Trim, Toned Arms with an Arm Lift

Saturday, February 15th, 2014

When it comes to be that time of year again to bare our arms in sleeveless tops, dresses and swimsuits, most people would rather keep the sleeves on! The backs of your arms in particular can be tricky to tone with exercise and diet alone, particularly if you have recently lost a lot of weight and have sagging skin.

An Arm Lift procedure can remove excess skin from your arm that is causing it to have that ‘doughy’ or sagging appearance. It can also involve liposuction to remove a small amount of excess fat from the arm if necessary.

Arm Lifts are performed by your doctor making specific incisions in your arms, depending on where the skin needs to be lifted and how. There can be longer inner arm or back of the arm incisions if you must tone the entire upper arm and elbow area, or if you only require a small lift your doctor can make a minimal incision to give you the least scarring possible.

After the incisions are made, the underlying tissues will be reshaped and tightened closer to the internal surfaces to make your arm as tight as possible. Finally, skin is lifted and tightened and any excess skin is cut away.

Results from an arm lift are noticeable right away, since your arms will be drastically slimmer. However, bandages and swelling will prevent you from seeing the full results until a couple weeks after the procedure. Bruising is another noticeable symptom after arm lifts, as any surgery, but those too will diminish in about 2-3 weeks. Scars will take longer to fade, but with the right doctor performing the surgery, they will be as discreet as possible.

The result after a few weeks of recovery is tight, toned arms that look healthy and slender – no more bat wings! An arm lift can help you feel confident in tank tops again, complete your weight loss journey, or help you with the signs of aging on your arms. With our expert team at the Center for Plastic Surgery i9n North Carolina giving you our best professional results, you’ll once again be able to wave your hands up in the air and enjoy the heat!
